Behringer Eurolive B215D 15″ Active PA Speaker
★★★★★ 4.7
✅ In stock — 8 available
The Behringer Eurolive B215D is how a great many sound systems in Kenya actually start. It is a 15-inch powered cabinet with 1000 watts of class-D amplification, priced so that a small church, a school or a starting DJ can afford a stereo pair rather than compromising on one speaker. Judged on what it costs, it is very hard to beat. WHAT YOU GET FOR THE MONEY A 15-inch woofer paired with a 1.35-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver, driven by a built-in class-D amplifier with an active crossover and thermal protection. The enclosure is moulded polypropylene with a wedge angle on one side so the cabinet can lie down as a stage monitor. There is a two-channel input section with a microphone input and a line input, each with its own level control, which means the speaker can run a small event on its own with no mixer at all. That last point is worth dwelling on. For a school assembly, an outdoor rally, a small function or a classroom, one B215D plus a microphone is a complete public-address system. Nothing else to buy, nothing else to carry. KEY SPECIFICATIONS Configuration: 2-way active loudspeaker Low frequency driver: 15-inch woofer High frequency driver: 1.35-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver Amplification: 1000 W peak class-D Maximum SPL: approximately 126 dB Frequency response: approximately 50 Hz to 20 kHz Inputs: combo XLR/TRS microphone input and line input, independent level controls Outputs: XLR link output for chaining a second cabinet Protection: thermal and overload protection with clip indicator Enclosure: moulded polypropylene with monitor wedge angle Mounting: 35 mm pole socket Power: switching supply, IEC mains input BEING HONEST ABOUT THE TRADE-OFFS We would rather sell you the right speaker than the most expensive one, so here is the straight comparison. The B215D does not have the horn refinement of the Electro-Voice ZLX-12P, the amplifier headroom of the QSC K12.2, or the DSP voicing of either. Pushed to its absolute limit it will sound harder than those cabinets, and the enclosure is less resistant to the knocks of weekly transport. What it does have is 15 inches of woofer and a price that leaves budget for stands, cables and a microphone. For a congregation of 100 to 250 people, a school hall, or a DJ playing private parties, it does the job convincingly. Many systems we have supplied started with a pair of B215Ds and added a subwoofer two years later, which is a perfectly sound way to build a rig. If the speaker is going to be loaded into a vehicle several times a week for paid work, spend more. If it lives in one room and works on Sundays and school events, this is the sensible buy. WHO THIS IS FOR Small and growing churches. Primary and secondary schools. Community halls and social groups. Starting DJs and event MCs. Anyone who needs real volume immediately and cannot justify triple the outlay. It also makes a capable stage monitor thanks to the wedge angle, and a useful spare cabinet for a larger system, since a spare speaker that exists beats a better speaker that is still being saved for. PRACTICAL NOTES Buy stands at the same time. A 15-inch cabinet on a table aims its horn at everyone's knees, and the system will sound muffled at the back no matter how loud you run it. Watch the clip indicator. The B215D has protection circuitry, but the fastest way to damage any powered speaker is to feed it a signal that is already distorted at the mixer. If the clip light is on constantly, the problem is upstream, not in the speaker. Give it clean power. Voltage dips are hard on switching supplies, and a stabiliser is cheap insurance in areas with unreliable mains. WARRANTY, DELIVERY AND ADVICE Genuine Behringer stock with a 12-month warranty. We deliver across Kenya, same-day in Nairobi and 1 to 3 business days elsewhere, and you pay on delivery by M-Pesa or cash. If you tell us the size of your room and what you are amplifying, we will tell you whether this cabinet is enough or whether you should stretch to the next model. Sometimes the answer is that the B215D is plenty, and we will say so.
